Rochelle has a Diploma in Therapeutic Massage from the New Zealand College of Massage (a nationally recognised NZQA qualification). This qualification combines extensive practical massage and treatment with anatomy, physiology and communications. She is a level 6, registered massage therapist with Massage Aotearoa New Zealand, thus meeting their strict educational and professional requirements. She has practised in her home-based Whitby clinic since she qualified in 2003.
In 2021 she also qualified as an approved practitioner of McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release, which she has incorporated into her practice.
She has also attended the following courses:
- Sports Massage – The application of massage techniques for the purpose of enhanced sports performance. Includes massage for pre and post event and the tailoring of massage sessions to suit training schedules.
- Clinical Sports – Types of sports injuries, treatment and rehabilitation.
- Joint Mobilisation (Stage 1,2 and 3) – Manual mobilisation techniques for joints of the upper body, lower body and spine.
- Micro Massage (Stage 1, 2 and 3) – Use of a round piece of bone to massage acupuncture points and stimulate the energy flow in an energy channel / meridian.
- Stretching - Assisted stretching / Active Isolated Stretching
- Reflexology – Relaxation techniques for foot massage.
- Ortho-Bionomy (Phase 4 Fundamentals) – Use of gentle movements and positions of the body that stimulate the body’s self-correcting and self-balancing mechanism to help with muscle tension, flexibility and circulation (not practising).
- Touch for Health / Kinesiology (Module 1) – Manual muscle testing to determine energy imbalances in the body (not practising).
- Cranial Sacral Therapy – Relief of pain and tension by gentle manipulations of the skull (not practising).
- Myofascial Release Fundamentals - Therapy based around releasing the fascia that surrounds the muscles.
- McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release - Approved Practitioner
Rochelle’s focus is on muscle tension and injuries related to sporting activity and normal, everyday life, the relief of symptoms from chronic conditions as well as general well-being.
Rochelle also qualified in Bowtech in 2015 and is now a registered practitioner with Bowen Therapy New Zealand. BTNZ also have specific educational and professional requirements that must be adhered to in order to retain membership.
She has also attended Bowen Therapy courses for the following:
- Mind, Body and Bowen - A course that focuses Bowen Therapy on the Chinese energy meridians and the effect of past life events.
- Bowen Sport – The use of Bowen Therapy for athletes and their training programmes.
- Bowen for Chronic Fatigue – The use of Bowen Therapy for Chronic Fatigue sufferers and similar health conditions.
- Special Bowen Procedures 1 - Extra Bowen Therapy procedures
Bowtech, or Bowen Therapy, is a holistic, gentle therapy which helps address the entire balance of the body as well as assisting with specific conditions.
Rochelle is a qualified workplace First-Aider – a requirement of registration for both Massage Aotearoa New Zealand and Bowen Therapy New Zealand.
